Buddy Tape Demonstration Tours Support European Plant Nurseries

Aglis Co., Ltd. has reinforced its commitment to plant nursery support and horticultural training through two European tours in January and March, focused on the use of Buddy Tape.

Led by export manager Hiroyasu Yoshino, the visits covered Poland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The tours delivered hands-on demonstrations of plant grafting techniques and propagation methods, helping nurseries improve efficiency, graft success rates, and plant quality.

These sessions also enabled valuable knowledge transfer from Aglis’ global horticulture experience, supporting professional growers in adopting best practices for modern nursery operations.

Jonathan Caisley, Managing Director of Japan Concept Srl, commented:

“We are delighted to benefit from the continued support of Aglis through these technical visits. They provide a unique opportunity not only to demonstrate the effective use of Buddy Tape, but also to share valuable expertise gained from working with plant nurseries worldwide.”

Aglis Unveils Breakthrough Grape Grafting Technique to Reduce Losses

Aglis has developed an innovative technique for the grafting of grapevines, addressing one of the most persistent challenges in viticulture—high graft failure rates.

Grafting losses in grapes are often caused by unstable unions and poor vascular connections between plant tissues. This can lead to weakened plants, reduced yields, and increased costs for growers. Aglis’ new method aims to significantly improve graft success by enhancing stability and promoting stronger connections during the critical early stages of growth.

Central to this technique is the use of Buddy Tape, a specialised grafting material that provides a secure and flexible hold. The tape ensures a firm grip on the graft, helping to protect it from wind damage while maintaining consistent pressure for optimal bonding. Its wax-infused composition prevents dehydration, while its elasticity allows it to expand naturally as the plant develops—supporting healthy, uninterrupted growth.

To validate the effectiveness of this approach, controlled technical trials took place in 2024 and 2025 in collaboration with CREA in Italy and Vignevin in France, showing improvements in graft success rates, plant health, and long-term vineyard performance.

Stay tuned for further updates as Aglis continues to advance innovation in grapevine propagation.
